Getting (back) into golf – Notes from a (returning) novice golfer

So I have done it. I have committed to something new. You could say it is part of a new challenge, a new project, one which depending how it goes could be short-lived or could run for some time. One which I hope will be enjoyable and fulfilling and could lead to an element of self-discovery. And it could be one where in time I think ‘why didn’t I do this sooner?’.

Review: An afternoon at…Baddesley Clinton, Warwickshire

Described as a secluded, intimate estate set in the heart of the Forest of Arden with 500 years of fascinating and unexpected stories, the National Trust property of Baddesley Clinton is one of those Warwickshire heritage properties that has often intrigued me for a number of reasons but for one excuse or another has not been ticked off my ‘visited’ list to answer it. Until now.

In pictures – A South Hams sunset

The South Devon coast is up there as one of my favourite places to visit in the UK.

In fact I would stretch that last statement as one of my favourite places anywhere. And I have seen a lot in my time (with still a lot more to discover).

Hope Cove, a small seaside village is located 5 miles west of Salcombe and the same distance south west of Kingsbridge. It has two beaches, Mouthwell Sands and Inner Hope Harbour and is sheltered by the headland of Bolt Tail which is a popular walking spot with local and visitors, including me (look out for a video to follow shortly of some of the views from up there).

One of the many charms of this coastline is its sunsets. They can be truly superb with the changing light producing an array of orange, pink and blues. You could sit for hours and watch it, and we do.

The small selection of images below captures a sunset from another of our recent visits, including a typical view along Bigbury Bay capturing Burgh Island and stretches as far as Plymouth.

  • Look out for a series of more posts with galleries of images from travels around South Devon soon.
